Training in Psychomotor PBSP Australia

Learning PBSP is a process of deepening clinical presence, refining therapeutic precision, and coming to know the work from the inside out.

The PBSP Training Australia | Body‑Based Trauma Therapy for Therapists pathways support practitioners at all stages of experience. Our training offers a thoughtful balance of structure, relational learning, and embodied, experiential practice—so that PBSP is not only understood conceptually, but lived and felt in the body.

Whether you are beginning your PBSP journey or moving toward accreditation, you are warmly welcome here.

Our Training Programs

Online Zoom Training

Our bi-monthly Zoom trainings offer a consistent and accessible way to learn directly from Curt throughout the year.

Each session is two hours in length, providing a focused space to deepen your understanding of PBSP over time, with opportunities for reflection, discussion, and integration.

These sessions are ideal for therapists who:

  • are new to PBSP

  • value steady, ongoing learning

  • prefer an online format

Your first Zoom session is complimentary. Simply complete the enrolment form and you will be sent a link to the next available session, which may be a Zoom training or a Zoom Intervision.

Intervision

(Live Online Demonstrations)

Our Intervision sessions are held bi-monthly via Zoom for 90 minutes and offer the opportunity to learn from guest PBSP trainers based in the United States.

These sessions include live demonstrations of all or parts of a PBSP structure, along with opportunities for therapists to observe, reflect on, and practise specific PBSP techniques in a supported learning environment.

Intervision is designed as a space for learning and integration rather than supervision, helping therapists deepen their understanding of how PBSP is applied in real clinical settings and build confidence in the use of the model.

Participation in Intervision is also a requirement for therapists working toward PBSP accreditation.

Brisbane PBSP Professional Development Training 2026

Discovering the True Self.

Becoming a PBSP Therapist.

Deepening Clinical Practice.

17–21 August 2026
Presented by Curt Levang, Ph.D., L.P.
Certified PBSP Trainer

Join us for an immersive five-day Professional Development Training in Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor (PBSP)—an innovative, body-based psychotherapy that integrates developmental psychology, attachment theory, neuroscience, and symbolic experience to facilitate lasting emotional healing.

PBSP is more than a therapeutic method—it is a way of understanding people. Rather than asking, "What is wrong with this person?" PBSP asks, "What happened? What was needed? What should have happened?" This developmental perspective enables therapists to move beyond symptom management toward creating symbolic experiences that foster resilience, integration, and new emotional memories.

Whether you are new to PBSP or seeking to deepen your existing clinical practice, this Professional Development Training offers a rich combination of personal experience, live demonstrations, clinical supervision, and practical skill development. Participants will not simply learn PBSP techniques—they will begin thinking, observing, and working through the PBSP lens.

Throughout the five days you will:

  • Experience the transformative power of PBSP through live structures and experiential exercises.

  • Learn to recognize unmet developmental needs, internal voices, and body-based emotional patterns.

  • Develop practical skills in PBSP assessment, micro-tracking, and symbolic formulation.

  • Strengthen your ability to remain present, curious, and clinically grounded through the use of the Pilot.

  • Receive live supervision and feedback that will deepen your therapeutic effectiveness.

  • Explore how PBSP principles can be integrated into both individual and couples therapy.

  • Become part of the growing PBSP community in Australia.

Why PBSP?

PBSP is one of the world's most sophisticated experiential psychotherapies. By integrating body awareness, developmental psychology, attachment theory, and symbolic experience, PBSP helps clients move beyond insight alone. Rather than simply understanding the past, clients experience carefully constructed symbolic interactions that provide what was missing during healthy development, allowing them to internalize new emotional memories and discover new possibilities for living.

Participants leave with:

  • A powerful developmental framework that complements existing therapeutic approaches.

  • Greater confidence in working with attachment, trauma, emotions, and the body.

  • Practical experiential interventions that can be integrated into everyday clinical practice.

  • A deeper understanding of how developmental history shapes adult relationships, emotional regulation, and identity.

  • New skills in assessment, formulation, symbolic interaction, and therapeutic presence.

  • A supportive Australian and international community committed to excellence in PBSP practice.

This extended format allows the learning to unfold gradually, creating space for deeper integration, embodiment, and reflection.

Many participants return to PBSP trainings because they find that familiar concepts take on new meaning over time. As understanding develops, so too does the capacity to recognise subtle patterns, appreciate the depth of the model, and integrate its principles more fully into both life and practice.

The learning is designed as a progressive journey, with each day building upon the previous one. For this reason, attending the full five days is strongly recommended to gain the greatest benefit from the training experience.

Who Should Attend?

This Professional Development Training is designed for professionals working in mental health, counselling, relationship therapy, and allied health, including:

  • Registered Psychologists

Why Train in PBSP?

Many therapists are highly skilled at helping clients understand why they struggle. PBSP goes one step further by helping clients experience what should have happened instead.

Through symbolic experiences carefully designed to meet unmet developmental needs, clients can develop new emotional memories that foster lasting change. This approach complements a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including attachment-based therapy, trauma therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal therapy, and somatic approaches.

PBSP offers clinicians a practical framework for integrating developmental theory, body awareness, neuroscience, and symbolic healing into everyday therapeutic practice.

It is never too late to create the childhood you needed.

PBSP helps transform unmet developmental needs into new symbolic experiences, creating the possibility of new emotional memories and a different future.

What Participants Say About Our PBSP Training

Feedback from those who have attended Psychomotor PBSP Australia in-person training programs.

The Personal Experience

"PBSP immediately takes you to a place that feels uniquely sacred. There is a profound sense of safety, even while experiencing deep vulnerability.

It is an all-encompassing experience—deeply healing, emotionally powerful, hopeful, insightful and life-affirming.

PBSP opens the door to exciting new possibilities."

— 2025 Brisbane Training Participant

The Clinical Experience

"I've experienced many excellent therapeutic approaches, and a range of mind-body therapies have helped me. However, the trauma and attachment healing within Psychomotor PBSP—through creating new, ideal and real memories—has a unique, joyful quality that supports post-traumatic growth.

PBSP resonates with approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Family Constellations, Somatic Experiencing and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I've benefited from them all.

Honestly, nothing compares to Psychomotor PBSP."

-  Mental Health Professional, 2025 Brisbane Training

The Learning Experience

"Witnessing seemingly entrenched suffering changing to lightness and ease..."

"PBSP training brings a depth of experiential knowledge..."

"I finally found my tribe..."
